Comparing Tsang Tsui, Wo Hop Shek and Cape Collinson Columbaria

Consider where relatives live, realistic journeys and future remembrance visits. Check transport and incense restrictions for the particular allocated area, not simply the facility name.

Who will make the journey in future?

Straight-line distance is less useful than knowing who will accompany an older relative with limited mobility. Transfers, walking and waiting from home or work can matter more than transport on the interment day itself. List regular starting points, possible MTR connections, driving or accessible transport, and differences between ordinary days, Ching Ming and Chung Yeung. Availability remains subject to the current FEHD allocation announcement; eligibility is covered separately.

Locations and visiting arrangements

Wo Hop Shek Phase VI and the Cape Collinson New Building are specific facilities, not names for every nearby niche. Incense rules depend on the niche or area. Check the allocation and local notices if the family wishes to burn incense.

Tsang Tsui, Tuen MunCheck that day's connection and return services from the Tuen Mun area.Relatively far from urban areas; confirm walking distance from the stop to the niche.Incense and non-incense niches exist; follow the allocated area's notices.

These comparisons do not guarantee that a particular site is available. FEHD facilities information and current arrangements take precedence.

Before Ching Ming or Chung Yeung

Special traffic arrangements change by year, day and demand. A bus used previously is not necessarily a permanent route. Check arrival and departure with FEHD or the transport operator before telling relatives where to meet. For someone who cannot stand long, establish drop-off points, wheelchair routes and resting places. Check where incense, paper offerings and other items may be used or must be taken away. Record the entrance, floor, lifts, opening hours and last return service. Keep offerings out of passageways and agree how to reconnect if anyone becomes separated. If relatives are considering a different form of ashes placement, compare green burial separately.

A family example and printable visit sheet

Mr Cheung lives in Tuen Mun, his aunt in Chai Wan and his mother has difficulty walking. Instead of choosing whichever site is nearest one person, they compare each journey and decide who will accompany her. Recheck when supply or routes change. Record the exact facility, ordinary-day route and one-way time, festival-service enquiry date, return connection, entrance and lifts, walking distance, incense category and permitted items, and the contact and date of the last official check. Relatives unable to visit can use the same sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tsang Tsui necessarily harder to reach than Wo Hop Shek?

No. It depends on starting points, transport and walking ability. Check festival and return services for the actual day.

Is Phase VI the same as every Wo Hop Shek facility?

No. Check its entrance, allocated niche area and applicable notices specifically.

Is incense allowed in the Cape Collinson New Building?

The allocated area and current rules determine this. Ask FEHD before travelling rather than inferring permission from the building name.
