Services | Our Complete Funeral Service Checklist

Documents, ceremonies, venues and interment arrangements, all coordinated by a dedicated member of staff. We explain each step, including what we handle and what you need to do in person.

"One-stop service" shouldn't be a slogan

Many funeral companies on the market claim to be "one-stop service", but in the end, family members often have to fight around on their own - visiting several government departments, shopping for longevity shops, and chasing funeral parlour schedules. The real one-stop shop should be . You only need to make the decision, and we will run the rest .

Therefore, this page is not the name of a series of services, but it is to explain three things clearly: What do we do specifically, what are the legal requirements that you must do personally, and the fees for each level are collected individually . After reading it, you will know what you are doing and how to compare with other experts.

Tim Fat Funeral is FEHD licensed undertaker , and its store address is G/F, 26 Baker Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong . It is within walking distance of the three funeral parlours of the Universal, International and Global Funeral Parlours, and the FEHD Kowloon cemetery and crematorium office is also on the same street. Mr Wu answers 24 hours a day 82099774 .

What We Handle and What the Family Must Do

This is a part that many funeral companies will write clearly, but it is the most practical for family members - because there are some legal provisions that must be done by relatives themselves, and no undertaker can replace .

The Service Process: From Your First Call to Interment of Ashes

This example follows the common arrangement of a death from natural causes, a wake at a funeral parlour and cremation. Plan the entire timetable backwards from the allocated cremation session.

  1. Receive your call (24 hours)

We will first ask a few things: where the deceased died, whether the police or coroner were involved, what documents have been obtained, whether cremation or burial is planned, religious background, expected number of relatives and friends, approximate budget, and whether the family has a niche. Then instantly tell you what to do next.

  2. Arranging Transfer of the Deceased

Pick up from the hospital or on-site to the funeral parlour, or arrange refrigerated storage as needed. If it is an unnatural death case, it must be issued by the coroner Form 11 before it can be processed.

  3. Accompanying You to Register the Death

Assist in preparing Form 18 and Form 2 , and accompany them to the joint office (Hong Kong Island: 18th Floor, Wu Chung Building, Wan Chai; Kowloon: 1st Floor, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices) to obtain Form 12 . Please note that natural death must be registered within within 24 hours . It is recommended to apply for several certified copies of the death certificate ($140/copy) at the same time.

  4. Apply for a Cremation Permit and book a cremation time slot

Apply for Form 3 at the same office, then complete FEHB 135 to book the cremation. We sign it and apply our FEHD-recognised stamp. FEHD’s performance pledge is to make unallocated sessions available within 15 days from the day after submission. The full timetable can only be confirmed once this step is settled.

  5. Confirming the Hall and Date

Once the cremation session is allocated, book a hall or mourning room and refrigerated mortuary space at one of the seven licensed funeral parlours for the appropriate date. Changing the cremation requires FEHB 264, and fees paid are non-refundable, so coordinate the two bookings.

  6. Confirming Supplies and Ceremonies

Confirm each item: the coffin (checking that its dimensions, materials and load capacity meet cremation requirements); burial clothing and quilts; paper offerings; the wording, dedication and sender’s name on floral tributes; the enlarged portrait; the obituary; and the number of religious officiants and ritual sessions. Provide a written itemised list for the family to check.

  7. The Wake, Vigil, Final Encoffining Rites and Farewell

Decorate the mourning hall in the afternoon → Encoffin and pay respects in the evening → Religious rituals in the evening → Relatives and friends pay tribute (distribute funeral return gifts and towels) → Family members the vigil → The coffin will be sealed and the deceased will bid farewell to the deceased in the morning of the next day. A dedicated person will be present to coordinate the entire process.

  8. The Funeral Procession and Cremation

Pallbearers carry the coffin to the hearse, while a coach takes relatives to the crematorium at Cape Collinson, Diamond Hill, Kwai Chung, Fu Shan, Wo Hop Shek or Cheung Chau. To watch the coffin entering the cremator by CCTV, tell staff when you arrive at the crematorium. A post-funeral meal may be arranged afterwards.

  9. Receive ashes (Day 4)

On the 4th day after the cremation, we or the family members will collect the ashes at the ashes collection point selected on the application form, and will be issued a " ashes collection permit " ( FEHB 153 ).

  10. Interment of Ashes

Processed according to family decision: public niche application (monthly allocation), addition to existing niche (FEHB 136A, $140, no waiting required), private niche , green funeral ashes, or ashes temporary storage. Afterwards, arrangements will be made for the date selection and enthronement ceremony.

  11. Follow up after the funeral

We remind and help families with subsequent matters: cancelling the identity card, bank accounts, probate, MPF and insurance claims. To apply to use the deceased’s savings for funeral expenses, contact the Home Affairs Department’s Estate Beneficiaries Support Unit (2835 1535).

Market reference

Four questions for price comparison: 1. The quotation Does it include the rental of the auditorium ? 2. How many time slots are there for the first-level auditorium? 3. Does cover government cremation fees ? (The Consumer Council studied 48 packages, only 41 of them included the crematorium service fee, and the remaining 7 did not include ) 4. Are there miscellaneous surcharges?

Five service commitments

1. One list, one price

Make a written list of all items, item by item. That's all on the list, will not charge for miscellaneous expenses . Government fees and funeral parlour venue fees will be listed separately, so that you can clearly understand which part of the money is paid to the government and which part is the service fee.

2. Someone will answer the call 24 hours a day

Phone 82099774 , WhatsApp 62384028 , Mr Wu answers 24 hours a day. When we receive a notification from the hospital late at night and need to visit immediately, we still go out.

3. Licensed operation, can be verified by yourself

Tim Fat Funeral is FEHD licensed undertaker and is listed in the licensed undertaker premises list (G/F, 26 Baker Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong) published by FEHD. Members of the public can check on the FEHD website by themselves and do not rely on our wording.

4. Free professional advice, no rush for decision

Consultation is free . You can go away with a written list, discuss it with your family, or even price it, and then come back and decide. We will not force you to place an order on the spot.

5. Clear and Accurate Information

We will truthfully explain government procedures, time limits and fees based on official information from FEHD, Immigration Department, Department of Health and SWD. If we cannot do something or the law does not allow it, we will explain it directly and will not be vague.

Service FAQ

The following 23 items focus on “the service itself”. For a complete set of 82 questions and answers about government procedures, customs, and fee details, see Frequently Asked Questions .

What does "one-stop funeral service" actually include?

We provide a truly one-stop funeral service, One list, one price, a full set of services, and no miscellaneous fees will be charged . Our company has many senior staff to serve you and arrange all planning procedures for you, including handling all relevant documents, death certificate, cremator, entrance and exit ash graveyard, Chinese and Western coffins, rituals, mourning hall, hearse, funeral workers, make-up, tour bus, post-funeral meal , etc.

What do you handle, and what must the family do in person?

is handled by us : body of the deceased transportation, mortuary arrangements, encasing makeup, renting the auditorium and mortuary, booking cremation time slot (signed by the undertaker and stamped with a seal approved by FEHD), collecting ashes on behalf of the deceased, coordinating rituals and supplies, hearse and funeral bus. Family members are required in person : Register the death (the declarer must be a relative), sign the application form as the applicant, and provide proof of relationship in person.

Are you a licensed undertaker?

Yes. Tim Fat Funeral is a Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) licensed undertaker . Its store number is located in G/F, 26 Baker Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong . It is listed in the licensed undertaker premises list published by FEHD. Under the Undertaker Regulations ( Chapter 132CB ), undertaking businesses related to the cremation or burial of human bodies of the deceased must be licensed .

What does "never charge for miscellaneous expenses" mean?

We quote using one itemised list and one price. The listed items represent the complete agreed service, with no later additions described as advances, miscellaneous charges or errand fees. Statutory government fees, such as HK$1,220 for adult cremation and HK$140 for a death certificate copy, and funeral parlour venue charges are third-party costs and are listed separately.

Will the quotation be stated in writing?

Yes. The written list will itemize the style and material size of the coffin, the number of pieces of burial clothing, the items and quantity of paper offerings, the number of floral tribute stands and their upper, middle and lower styles, the level and time of the auditorium, the hearse, the number of funeral buses, the number of religious masters , and whether the government cremation fee has been covered . Families can take it away and check it slowly, discuss it with them, and even decide on the price.

Can I reach you late at night or on public holidays?

Yes. We provide 24-hour phone support and body of the deceased pick-up arrangements, phone 82099774 , WhatsApp 62384028 , Mr Wu 24-hour answering .

How long does it usually take from the first call to the funeral?

It depends on the case. The main constraint is the cremation session: FEHD’s performance pledge is to make unallocated sessions available within 15 days from the day after submission. Once death registration (within 24 hours for a natural death) and the Cremation Permit are completed, the cremation can be booked, and the hall and ceremony arranged around it. For an unnatural death, the Coroner must first issue Form 11, so the process takes considerably longer.

What is the most economical arrangement?

The simplest options are a hospital farewell ceremony or a direct funeral from hospital: after a brief farewell in the hospital where the person died, the body is taken directly to the crematorium. No wake or funeral hall hire is involved, keeping the overall cost to a minimum. These arrangements are generally available only to patients who died in that hospital, usually during office hours. For a CSSA recipient, the family may also apply for an SWD burial grant (up to HK$17,870 in 2026). We offer concessionary funeral services for CSSA recipients, from HK$8,800.

Can you expedite government procedures?

No, not anyone. FEHD clearly stated that the application procedure is simple and can be submitted by oneself, and there is no need to entrust other persons or institutions to handle it ; FEHD has not entrusted any institution or person to receive or process applications on its behalf, and no one will enjoy any convenience or privilege . FEHD also does not authorise any funeral director to act as an agent for funeral matters . We only help organize documents, check eligibility and explain the process.

Do you book the funeral hall, or should I book it myself?

Either option is possible. Families can arrange a rental through any licensed undertaker or enquire directly with the funeral parlour. However, the hall booking must match the allocated cremation time slot. Changing the slot requires FEHB 264, and fees already paid are non-refundable. Having the same undertaker coordinate both bookings is therefore much more reliable.

Which funeral parlours do you work with?

Hong Kong currently has seven licensed funeral parlours. We can arrange hire at any of them: Hong Kong Funeral Home (679 King’s Road, North Point); Kowloon Funeral Parlour (1A Maple Street, Tai Kok Tsui); Universal Funeral Parlour (the entire premises at 10–10A Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom); International Funeral Parlour (8 Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom); TWGHs Diamond Hill Funeral Parlour (181 Po Kong Village Road); Global Funeral Parlour (Blocks A and B, 6 Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom); and Po Fook Memorial Hall (1 Yau On Street, Sha Tin). Universal, International and Global Funeral Parlours are all within walking distance of our premises.

What religious ceremonies can I choose?

We can arrange Taoist rites (opening the way, ritual offerings and prayers, Breaking the Hell Gate, the Journey through the Ten Courts, the Lotus Seat ritual and bidding farewell to the spirit); Buddhist sutra chanting, repentance rites and dedication of merit; Catholic Requiem Masses; Christian funeral services; and non-religious farewells and memorial services. Taoist and Buddhist ceremony packages start from HK$9,800. Where family members have different beliefs, we can discuss an arrangement that accommodates them.

Can I buy coffins, burial clothing, and paper offerings myself?

Can be negotiated, but should pay attention to the specifications . Cremation coffins must comply with the FEHD Code (avoid being larger than height 710/width 760/length 1,980 mm , no metal or PVC accessories are allowed on the surface, and the name of the deceased must be listed on the coffin), and must comply with the Cremation and Gardens of Remembrance Regulation ( Chapter 132M ); environmentally friendly coffins The load capacity cannot be less than 150 kg . Burial clothing should not have metal zips or plastic buttons. Paper offerings must comply with funeral parlour burning paper offerings facilities and charges. It is recommended to check the specifications with us first.

Which niche arrangements can you handle?

Public : Assist in checking the deceased's burial qualifications, sorting out identity and cremation documents, explaining the monthly lottery and renewal mechanism, and can accompany the deceased to the FEHD Kowloon Cemeteries and Crematorium Office (G/F, No. 6 Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom, on the same street as us) to take the oath. Private : Agent for multiple licensed columbaria, enjoy special discounts, set up free luxury 7-person car for viewing. We can also handle BMCPC registration , longevity memorial tablet and green funeral ashes scattering .

Do you charge a fee to apply for a public niche?

No fee is payable when submitting an application to FEHD. For public niches, we help check eligibility, prepare documents and explain the procedure. We do not and cannot offer any expedited or internal channel. If anyone claims to be able to secure a government niche or cremation slot through special connections, be wary.

Do you also arrange exhumation?

do. Exhumation of remains must be completed after six years in a public cemetery. Yes. Our company handles the entrance and exit of bodies of the deceased and ashes, including handling death certificates, embalming treatment, consular appointments, wooden boxes anti-insect treatment, cargo and passenger aircraft slots , etc. To leave the country, the body of the deceased must apply for " Permit to Remove the Corpse from Hong Kong " ( Form 9 , free, application form SF/BDR/3); to enter the body of the deceased, a licensed undertaker must apply to the Department of Health Port Health Section Human Cadaver Import Licence ” ( DH2437 , in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation Chapter 599A ).

Can I make arrangements if I have financial difficulties?

When a CSSA recipient dies, relatives or friends can apply to the SWD for a burial grant of up to $17,870 in 2026. Applications must be made within six months of the death. We offer special funeral services for CSSA recipients, starting from 8,800. People facing hardship who do not receive CSSA can seek help from the SWD. They can also contact the Home Affairs Department’s Estate Beneficiaries Support Unit (2835 1535) to apply to withdraw money from the deceased’s bank account for funeral expenses.

How are cases with no relatives or unclaimed bodies handled?

Such cases are usually referred by relevant government departments or social service agencies. We can undertake and provide simple and solemn arrangements to ensure that the procedures are legal and complete, including documents, body of the deceased, cremation and ashes. People in need can also seek assistance from the Charitable Trust Fund or Emergency Relief Fund managed by the Social Welfare Department (SWD).

Can I make arrangements before my death?

Yes, and it's becoming more common. Can make a will , register FEHD " Green Funeral Central Registration List " (form FEHB 278 , query 2562 7130 ) express wishes and indicate to the family in advance the desired ceremony format, coffin and burial location. The store is located within walking distance of the three funeral parlours of the Universal, International and Global Funeral Parlours in the same district, and the FEHD Kowloon Cemetery and Crematorium office is also on the same street.

What information should I prepare before my first call?
